Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2025

At Cedarmail, your privacy is not a feature — it is the foundation of everything we build. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

Information We Collect

When you create a Cedarmail account, we collect your email address and a password. If you join our waitlist, we store only the email address you provide. We do not collect names, phone numbers, or any other personal information unless you choose to add them to your profile.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to provide and maintain the Cedarmail service — delivering, storing, and organizing your email. We do not use your data for profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose beyond operating the service you signed up for.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We will never monetize your information. The only exception is when required by law through a valid legal process, in which case we will notify you whenever legally permitted.

Tracking and Analytics

Cedarmail does not use tracking pixels, browser fingerprinting, or third-party analytics services. We do not track how you use the application beyond basic server logs necessary to maintain uptime and diagnose errors. These logs are retained for no more than 14 days and contain no personally identifiable information.

Advertising

Cedarmail does not display advertisements of any kind. Your inbox will never contain ads injected by us, and we will never scan your email content to build advertising profiles.

Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data both in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to a minimal number of authorized personnel. We conduct regular security reviews and follow responsible disclosure practices.

Data Retention

Your email and account data are retained for as long as your account is active. If you choose to delete your account, all associated data — including emails, contacts, and account information — will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. Waitlist entries are deleted upon request or after you receive an invitation.

Your Rights

You have the right to request a complete export of your data at any time. You may also request deletion of your account and all associated data. We will process these requests within 30 days. To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@cedarmail.org.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you via the email address associated with your account at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that period constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
